Well if we are going to be honest with each other, I wish I had the resources that I have now, for when I first started blogging. If you are new to blogging this list will help you. If I had these things wayback when than trust me I think things would be a lot different than they are now. Because that’s what this post is all about.
As I continue learning about blogging, and meeting new bloggers; I frequently get asked the question, “Hey! What do you use for —–“.So I figured what better way to answering your questions than by putting together a list of all my favorite resources and blog posts which might be really supportive! A few of these links are affiliate links (because hey if you do the work once and it works well, you’ll be successful!) here’s the best part I will ONLY recommend products that I actually use and LOVE with all of my heart.
But before we dive into this awesome list of resources….
IF YOU HAVE A GOAL TO EITHER START AND/OR GROW A KICK ASS ONLINE BUSINESS THEN YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY CHECK OUT THIS BLOG POST ( INSERT BLOG POST ) ON YOU CAN DO JUST THAT.
Let me not keep you waiting any longer, here’s a complete list of dope resources for growing your blog or online business!
ESSENTIAL BLOGGING AND ONLINE BUSINESS TOOLS
Website: SquareSpace is a great for making a professional looking website, and turning it into something you love without the headache of customization like wordpress.org gives you. ( Although yes I currently have my blogs on WordPress.org and my websites on Squarespace.com
Email Marketing: Mailerlite – This is who I use for my e-mail marketing and I’m in love with it. Everything is SO easy, including doing things like automation, creating awesome automation rules, funnels, email courses, tagging people in your list and more! I switched over from Mailchimp and haven’t looked back.
SumoMe has been a total game changer for the blog. SumoMe offers a suite of tools like List Building to convert blog visitors to life-long readers; Smart Bar that floats at the top of the blog to encourage visitors to take action; a floating Share button that increases the virality of your content; and host of 10 other tools to help you blog smarter.
Online Storage: Drop Box is perfect for storing and organizing screenshots and backing up your website, videos and blog posts! It’s really important to back up all of your files because let’s face it stuff happens. Computers die. And trust me when I tell you don’t want to lose everything. It has totally happened to me before and I still hate myself for it.
For Creating Docs, Spreadsheets, Surveys etc: Google Drive (and it’s free!) It does spreadsheets, Docs and surveys. This is super helpful especially when you are home and start doing something and then leave the house. You can easily save and then pick up right where you left off on your phone as easy as 123.
WEBSITE HOSTING + DOMAINS
Website Hosting: SiteGround is something I recently found, when I first started my first blog ModelSavings.com and made the big switch from blogger to wordpress, I had signed up for BlueHost. Bluehost however paying them every month $19.99 ended up causing me a financial headache. It was one of the reasons that when I started StylingwithSheilaJ.com I was going to hold off on switching. I saw everyone else getting hosting for like as low as $2.99 but I wasn’t until I found SiteGround. They one offer you a FREE MONTH TRIAL before you actually buy them and the total start up costs for an entire year is as low as $50. That’s so much cheaper on my pocket than paying what blue hosts wants from you.
Domain Purchasing: NAMECHEAP.COM Is where I purchase my domain names.
SOCIAL MEDIA AUTOMATION AND MARKETING
Automating Social Media Accounts: Hootesuite – I use the free version of this to automate my social media and it’s a total time (and sanity) saver! I effing love it. You can automate 3 different accounts for free, which is pretty sweet.
For Scheduling Instagram: PLANN is perfect! This APP was a one time cost of $10 bucks or so and lets me lay out all of my Instagram photos for the week, add captions, and schedule my entire week or longer, ahead of time.
Automating and Growing Pinterest: BoardBooster. This platform is so amazing simply because it saves me SO much time! Did I also mention that it has helped me go from 15,000 followers to over 30,00 followers in less than one year. Plus, plans start at just $5/month!
Ebooks, Workbooks etc: Illustrator – This is what I use to create all my PDFs, I am a nerd so I will also go for the programs that I know best.
GRAPHIC DESIGN + STOCK PHOTOS + DIY APPS
Professional Looking Graphics & Documents Canva is free and just about my favorite tool to use for creating social media graphics for Pinterest and Instagram
Fonts, Graphic Elements and More: Creative Market I found this site and I instantly fall in love with it. You can find everything and almost anything to help you in your designing needs and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I am like a tad obsessed with this site. Oh! Did I mention that every week they give away 6 FREE PRODUCTS OF THEIR CHOOSING! 😊
Free Stock Photos: So I tend to shoot a lot of my own stock photos or find some from other bloggers that I follow. If you want to receive FREE STOCK PHOTOS from me every month than CLICK HERE to subscribe to my newsletter. I also have a membership for bloggers who want to upgrade there blog life with unlimited stock photos.
VIDEO AND PHOTO MARKETING TOOLS
For Taking Photos + Videos: FUJI FILM X-T2 – This is by far my FAVORITE CAMERA TO USE. Once I found this camera I could not help but go out of my way to get it. The Images speak for itself, the video shoots in 4k. This camera was probably all I spoke about to anyone and everyone who would listen to me about cameras. However, I understand that we all aren’t in a position to dish out a lot of money on a camera so another option would be the Canon Rebel T5 which is great for bloggers, entrepneurs who are just starting.
Digital Planner: Asana is a great digital planner option if you prefer digital planners. It’s also free. I use this when I am planning out big projects and need to assign tasks to virtual assistants.
